Friday Book Blogger Hop!

Friday's Books Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books.

Book Blogger Hop

This weeks question is:

What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?

Usually what keeps me reading a book past the first few pages are the characters. Or the potential story line. The way the author writes too. Sometimes you can get a book and just tell within the first page or so that it isn't going to be good. I usually give the book a chance anyways and continue to read. If it improves, that's awesome and I'll finish it. If it gets worse, I probably won't. I've only read one book so far that was so...terrible I couldn't finish it.

Can't wait to see every one's answer to this weeks question! Thanks for Hopping by! :)

  1. I don't know why I keep reading a book. It's not the story. It's not the characters. I really don't know!

I'm hopping by to tell you that I've got a wonderful giveaway going on at my blog, Readerbuzz. It's international! During the Readerbuzz July Giveaway I'll be giving away a $25 Amazon gift card! I'd love to have you stop in and throw your name in the hat to win!

  3. These book blogger hop questions just get better and better. This one looks easy but I think it’s a trick question. We all know it’s the same answer – the writing – but we all have different perspectives of what good writing is.

Hop on over to my blog at http://www.howardsherman.net and read my three-prong answer as I explain why I’ll decide to pick up a book or put it down in under sixty seconds.

    Happy July 4th Weekend!

  4. I usually stick things out for as long as possible. Always hoping things might pick up. I have been guilty of skimming pages but still finishing the book. But yeah, if I can't get into the book, storyline or characters, I don't finish it at all.

  5. Same here - I will normally stick out a book that I'm not sure of...usually I end up being pleasantly surprised.

    Have a lovely weekend :)

  6. Hopping through. I usually can't tell if a book is going to be bad immediately but I often can tell if it's going to be great. It's the middle range that's the hardest to discern.

  7. I don't usually stop reading a book unless it's really, really bad. I've been known to skim a book till the end, however, if I just don't like it very much.

Thanks for hopping by my blog last week, btw!

  9. It's hard for me to put a finger on what causes me to finish or not finish a book. I know it has to do with my mood at the time, but there's other factors too. I rarely stop reading a book, but once in a while....
