Friday Book Blogger Hop!

Friday's Books Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books.

Book Blogger Hop

This weeks question is:

What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?

Usually what keeps me reading a book past the first few pages are the characters. Or the potential story line. The way the author writes too. Sometimes you can get a book and just tell within the first page or so that it isn't going to be good. I usually give the book a chance anyways and continue to read. If it improves, that's awesome and I'll finish it. If it gets worse, I probably won't. I've only read one book so far that was so...terrible I couldn't finish it.

Can't wait to see every one's answer to this weeks question! Thanks for Hopping by! :)

  2. These book blogger hop questions just get better and better. This one looks easy but I think it’s a trick question. We all know it’s the same answer – the writing – but we all have different perspectives of what good writing is.

Hop on over to my blog at http://www.howardsherman.net and read my three-prong answer as I explain why I’ll decide to pick up a book or put it down in under sixty seconds.

    Happy July 4th Weekend!

  3. I usually stick things out for as long as possible. Always hoping things might pick up. I have been guilty of skimming pages but still finishing the book. But yeah, if I can't get into the book, storyline or characters, I don't finish it at all.

  4. Same here - I will normally stick out a book that I'm not sure of...usually I end up being pleasantly surprised.

    Have a lovely weekend :)

  5. Hopping through. I usually can't tell if a book is going to be bad immediately but I often can tell if it's going to be great. It's the middle range that's the hardest to discern.

  6. I don't usually stop reading a book unless it's really, really bad. I've been known to skim a book till the end, however, if I just don't like it very much.

Thanks for hopping by my blog last week, btw!

  8. It's hard for me to put a finger on what causes me to finish or not finish a book. I know it has to do with my mood at the time, but there's other factors too. I rarely stop reading a book, but once in a while....
