Book Blogger Hop

Friday's Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books!

This week's question is:

“When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?”

I think I knew from the time I was little that reading was an important part of my life. I don't know if anyone remembers this but, when I was in elementary school, we had to read books and keep a journal of the books we read. We had to draw a picture for it, write what it was about, and whether or not we liked it. Sort of like a blog, right? haha. Anyways, my journal in school was HUGE! I mean, most kids read the bare minimum but I read and read and read. I went to author signings when I was little too and I actually got to meet Sylvia McNicoll and she personalized and signed a copy of 'Bringing Up Beauty' for me, which in turn became one of my favorite books! I hit a bump for a while where I gave up on reading. I'm sad that I did because now that I started reading again, I love it. I love to read books. It is now and will always be my biggest passion!

I really can't wait to read everyone's answer to this weeks Hop question!! :)

  3. Aw, I don't think we ever had to draw a pic and write our feelings on a book. That's so cute!

  4. My passion began early as well! It was when I was 13 that it really kicked into gear! Although it wasn't til many years later when I actually started meeting the authors!

  8. I remember we had to practice reading back in elementary school, and I always wanted to read to my parents. :) I begged my dad to listen to me even when he was tired. Thank you for visiting!

  9. I remember in 7th grade we had to pick some free reading for English class off of a list. I ended up reading through the entire list!

I realized how important books had become in my life in 1999. Come see what happened.

  10. lol. My sister is always the drawer, and I am always the writer in this family. I do have fond memories of my journal, and how I tried to make it look like Amelia's Journal, of the children's series.

Following now - well, as soon as the widget kicks in. Please check out my blog as well!

  12. Wow, what a cool journal to have. I think all my childhood journals centre around best friends, what I had for dinner and how annoying my little brother was at times!

  15. Hi! I'm returning the visit. I love that your class kept reading journals. My school did those weird reading groups named after birds. It wasn't very effective, that's for sure. I hope that you enjoy your weekend!

  17. @Fay - Liked your comment, I hope my kids (when I have 'em) like reading too..I'm thinking audio books should help in the early stages.

  19. Aw, I remember keeping reading journals/logs as a kid, too! You're right: blogs are just a way for us to continue that as adults. I never had to draw pictures for my reading log, though - it sounds like your school was more interested in fostering artistry than mine!

  22. That's so cool! I wish my school did that as a kid. We had book reading contests, and I remember winning or getting second place for some of those. You know, if you read the most or whatever. But I think that was about the only time I read as a kid unfortunately. I'm glad to have discovered it now though! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog hop as well. Sorry I didn't get back to you until now! :)
