ISBN-13:978-0-373-21008-4

My Rating: 4/5
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school...or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan sense that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth-that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face...and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

'The Iron King' is the first installment in the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. It's actually the first fairy book I've read so far and I have to say, I liked it. My favorite character was not Meghan Chase, I did like her as a character though. I actually liked some of the side characters more than her. For example, Ash and Puck. I found some parts a little boring (that's why a 4 rating instead of a 5) and some parts were great! I'll definitely be getting 'The Iron Daughter' by Julie Kagawa but it's not at the top of my list right now. I was really hoping to LOVE this book because I heard such amazing things about it but it was good, I liked it and that's good enough for me.

The story is told through Meghan Chase. She's a 16 year old high school student. No one seems to bother with her or really try to be her friend except for Puck. As the story progress' Meghan's brother Ethan is kidnapped and a Changeling that looks identical to him, takes his place. She finds out that she's actually part fey and she has to rescue her brother from none other than the Iron King. The story is her struggling with the fey world and all the mythical (and frightening) creatures in it.

All in all it was a good book. If you haven't read it yet, you should check it out. If anyone has any reviews posted on their blogs for The Iron Daughter, that would be spectacular. I'd love to read them. I really want to see what people's opinions were of book 2 compared to book 1. I'm going to be reading it regardless! : )
